Lots of stuff

I’ve made progress on a lot of things over the last few weeks. I’ve started the wiring that’s on the outside of the car (main battery cables, etc.), finished some of the tubing, got the pedals finished, and started insulating the car.

I also got my shifter in and modified it to work with my transmission. I really wanted this shifter as it has a cool adjustable handle, but the company MGW only makes them for Ford T5s. With a little machine work though, I was able to make it fit my Chevy T5.

Here you can see I got the battery fitted, wiring for the fuel pump, and the main battery cables routed to the front of the car/starter. These run along the frame and have heat shielding. I also have heat shielding where the exhaust runs along the floor to help with that heat.

I also finished up the brake and clutch lines. I had to buy a kit to do bubble flares. I have no earthly idea why anyone would use these over AN or DIN. Pain in the butt to get right.

I had to modify the drive by-wire pedal I got to match my engine a bit to make it fit just like the stock one. This was pretty straight forward, just a bit of cutting, welding, and grinding to make it sit right. I also rebuilt the clutch/brake pedals and had everything powder coated.

Last up – I started insulating the inside of the car. I’ll be doing pretty much all of the interior. This will help substantially with noise as well as keeping heat out and cold air from the AC in.
