I’ve been gone to Houston the past day or two, so when I got home today I didn’t have a lot of time to work on the car. I am waiting on a rotisserie from a friend to pull the body off, but since I had a few hours I decided to start working on the easily accessible areas. The first thing was to remove the battery box, since I will be relocating to the trunk anyway. It looks like it rusted through at some point in the past and someone put in a bit of fiberglass to strengthen it. Glad to have that mess gone!
Next was an area on the lip of the hatch surround that had rusted through. The whole thing was scaly, but only one area had holes. I cut that out, feathered it, and welded in a new section made of steel. A little weld-thru primer and it is good as new!
