After a few days on the road the ’72 came in from California! The car hadn’t started in the better part of a decade, the brakes didn’t work, and two tires were flat. So it was a bit of a pickle getting her off the trailer and up the driveway. But, after a lot of grunting and help from a neighbor it was off the trailer and in the driveway for preliminary inspection!
I bought the car without seeing it, but I knew there would be a lot of issues to fix based on talking to the seller. I was not wrong! After a few hours of inspection, I have a preliminary repair list:
So… lots to do! At this point I decided I would be replacing the engine/transmission/differential and fixing or replacing all those other things. I did want to at least get it running to pull it into the garage though, so I put in an electric fuel pump, changed the oil, put in new coolant, and a new battery. She fired up after only a little starting fluid!
After a few more mechanical checks I was able to get her into the garage and start disassembly. I pulled the whole interior other than drivers seat and dash, rear lights, fuel tank, vents, and the rear hatch. This is where she sits now!
