I got a good bit of work done yesterday and today on getting the car further stripped for body removal. So far the car is in remarkably good shape (other than the swiss cheese floor pans), so I’m quite happy about that. The other car I’m restoring, a ’68 Cutlass, needs almost every body panel replaced, so this is a dream by comparison. I was able to get the windshield removed (without breaking!!!) and the birdcage is 100% rust free, which also makes me really happy. A tiny bit of rust on the rear hatch panel which will be easy to fix.
gtspit also pointed out my fender seams have been smoothed, which I didn’t even notice! But I like the look and will keep it this way.
On the drive-train front, I was fortunate enough to be passed Albert Gary’s information and talked to him about his Ecotec swap in his TR-6. After a lot of digging, I was able to find the Ecotec LDK 2.0 which was used in the Buick Regal/etc. It’s a twin-scroll turbo 4 cyl. from GM which can put out over 300hp with just a tune, so I am leaning heavily in this direction.
Let me know your opinions!
